Each show is different than the last with setpieces and costumes, which made this Halloween-theme show aptly timed. Beats Antique’s Tommy Cappel wants to talk to you about CBD

Rather, the co-founder, co-producer, and drummer for Beats Antique developed them after multiple concussions as a result of altercations and sports injuries in high school. His seizures continued for years, putting Cappel on disability and causing additional physical problems. “Every digit, elbow, and joint I have is chipped,” he says, chuckling. “My bones are damaged from landing on my face in a parking lot, hitting my head on a rock five, 10, 20 times because that’s the environment I’m in when it’s happening. Beats Antique (photo: Jon Bauer) A night of amazing music from Oakland's own Beats Antique swept through the Fox Theater last Saturday night, December 3, 2016. The hypnotic and diverse group gave a show of their usual flare, exotic dance beats accompanied by a variety of dancers and visuals. They were supported by none other than Alam Khan, son of Sarode Maestro Ali Akbar Khan, and always-excellent DeVotchKa. Beats Antique headlines The Fox Theater on 3/30/12

The ascent in just five years of Oakland tribal-electro trio Beats Antique is one to be applauded. Comprised of David Satori, Tommy Cappel and world-renowned belly dancer Zoe Jakes (also a musical producer in this project), the band has grown from playing Bay Area underground parties to landing sought-after time slots at major music festivals (including Outside Lands and Sea of Dreams), selling out venues across the globe, and developing a devoted fan base dedicated to the weird - and weird is good.
