Our House warehouse show morphs into benefit for Everyone Is Dirty frontwoman Sivan Lioncub

Sivan Lioncub of Oakland art-rock outfit Everyone Is Dirty has had a major league health care scare, and her friends are rallying to help her while she literally and figuratively gets back on her feet. The first step? This Saturday's show presented by Our House (the arts collective founded by Lioncub, Annie Lepitz, and our own Lauren Espina) has been transformed into a benefit to help Lioncub with her medical costs, which continue to pile up despite her insurance. Everyone Is Dirty is no longer on the bill, and Down and Outlaws, Annie Girl & The Flight, and Fpod [...]

O, Annie Girl and The Flight, and Balms at Rickshaw Stop

With their eyes on the pulse of local music, Our House emerged in late 2014 with a goal of supporting and affirming the Bay Area art community. The group comes wheeling into 2015 with a show at the Rickshaw Stop on Thursday night featuring the newly rebranded O (formerly Black Cobra Vipers), Annie Girl and The Flight, and Balms. We’re not just seeing some strong local rock bands on this bill - Our House says “this show will set the tone for not only this year but for our collective as a whole.” Made up of Annie Lipetz of Annie [...]

Our House collective hosts first holiday party TONIGHT at Brick & Mortar with Everyone Is Dirty, Annie Girl and the Flight, and more

There's a new arts collective in town, and they're ending 2014 with a bang tonight at Brick & Mortar Music Hall. Our House – the brainchild of Annie Lipetz of Annie Girl and the Flight, Sivan Lioncub of Everyone Is Dirty, The Bay Bridged writer Lauren Espina, and Shayla Thernes and Roxane June from The Chapel – comes strong with its first annual holiday party, dubbed "Rock N Roll Under The Mistletoe" and featuring Lioncub and Lipetz's bands, plus Down Dirty Shake and Paisano. On its website, Our House's stated purpose is to "affirm the arts in our community by [...]

Don’t forget: Celebrate the SF music scene Saturday at Not Dead Yet Fest!

"Everybody's moving to L.A." "All the art is happening in Oakland." "This place is dead anyway." No matter where you look these days, someone's singing the death knell of not only the San Francisco music scene, but San Francisco as we know it. If you believed most commentators, you'd picture the City as a seven-mile-by-seven-mile wasteland full of Mark Zuckerberg clones renting studios for $5K per month, applying for permits to build a Walmart on every corner from North Beach to Lake Merced, and namby-pamby former suburbanites petitioning to have every music venue shut down for excessive noise. Well, the [...]

Premiere/Interview: Annie Girl & The Flight – “The Forge”

Every once in a while, out of the uninterrupted flow of music around us, a voice comes around that stops you in your tracks. It rises above the noise, regardless of its volume, and resonates with you long after the end of a song. One such voice belongs to Annie Lipetz of Annie Girl & The Flight. Heavy in its lightness, and often calm in all its jagged malcontent, her vocals power the band's mesmeric folk rock, not at the forefront but from its core, breathing fire into each track without dominating the group's sonic aesthetic. Before you read about the woman [...]

Mixtape: Fourteen San Francisco Bands to Watch in 2014

http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/Bands_to_Watch_2014.mp3 Download: Mixtape: Fourteen San Francisco Bands to Watch in 2014 We cover a whole lot of San Francisco Bay Area bands at The Bay Bridged, a sign of the wealth of musical talent here. The size of this talent pool, however, presents its own challenge: with so many interesting local bands out there, and with acts emerging seemingly every day, who are the new artists to keep a close eye on in the months to come? This mixtape takes a stab at answering that question, showcasing fourteen excellent local bands that are new to our podcast, young groups with [...]
