Staff Writers: Hip-Hop, Bluegrass, Metal, World Music

General Overview:

Founded in 2006, the San Francisco-based 501(c)3 nonprofit project The Bay Bridged has become recognized nationwide as the leading source for San Francisco Bay Area independent music through our award-winning music blog and podcast series, as well as a series of acclaimed music festival events.

We are looking for committed writers who want to be part of an organization dedicated to fostering music in the Bay Area, from Santa Rosa to San Jose. Staff writers will contribute an average of 3-5 news posts a week with the occasional feature story, as well as volunteer at events and attend quarterly staff meetings to help shape The Bay Bridged as a source of local music news.

Positions are paid on a contract basis.

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking to add writers who have a deep knowledge of music scenes outside of the usual garage-band makeup: hip-hop, bluegrass, metal, world music, etc.

If you are interested in covering the San Francisco Bay Area Music Scene focused one or more of these specific genres, please send an email to jobs[at]thebaybridged[dot]com with the following materials:

Links to up to four (4) previously published works focused on your genre of interest AND a Cover Letter explaining who you are, what genre(s) you'd like to cover, and answers to the following questions:

  • Sum up your history with Bay Area music in a paragraph or less.
  • What Bay Area band are you most excited about right now?
  • What was the last show you went to and how was it?

Timeline:

Staff Writers are contracted for 6 months and extended into the foreseeable future if the fit is right.

The Bay Bridged is an equal opportunity employer. Applications are being accepted and interviews are ongoing until the position is filled. No phone calls please.
