Tanlines stream new album ‘Highlights’ and release new video

Next week, Phono del Sol Music & Food Festival headliners Tanlines release their long-awaited new album Highlights, but if you're as excited as we are, you can head over to the band's Netflix-themed web site and stream the entire LP right now. While you're checking out the album, be sure to buy your tickets to Phono del Sol! Tanlines also just released a music video for "Pieces," which finds Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm portraying a basketball-obsessed duo who enter a two-on-two tournament with, well, let's just say less-than-successful results.

Watch White Cloud’s bloody new video for “Waves”

We've loved SF band White Cloud for nigh on six years now, so it was exciting to get word that the group's got an new album on the horizon. There's no date yet for the release of Seven Heads, but the band just launched a new video directed by Melted Toys/Emotional/Death Records honcho Brian Wakefield. The grindhouse-inspired clip for "Waves" features a series of gross, harassing dudes suffering some violent ends, all set to the soundtrack of the band's hazy psych-pop. Check out the video below, as well as a handful of upcoming tour dates. https://vimeo.com/120551148 May 18th Oakland @ [...]

Live This Month: May 2015 — an audio guide to upcoming SF concerts

http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/LTM_May_2015.mp3 Download: Live This Month: May 2015 (Podcast #362) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s probably not that surprising that this month’s mix includes two bands each from Portland (Other Lives, Wishyunu) and from Brooklyn (San Fermin, Ava Luna), but Memphis? Supported by stellar local label Goner Records, the Tennessee city’s garage rock scene is brimming with talent, and Nots and Ex-Cult both deliver intense, raucous rock and roll likely to make for some excellent live shows. Speaking of raucous, [...]

Premiere: Hard Left delivers burst of anthemic punk in “Stay True”

Happy May Day, everyone! Appropriately enough, we're premiering today "Stay True," 67 seconds of anthemic, inspiring punk from SF band Hard Left. The group is comprised of veterans who've played in bands like Boyracer and Black Tambourine, including Mike Schulman of Slumberland Records, and We Are Hard Left arrives in May. The group celebrated the release of the new album last night in San Francisco, and, after a quick trip to LA tonight, they'll be celebrating in Oakland on Saturday. Hard Left's name should suggest that politics are front and center, and "Stay True" shows how timeless an inspiring punk [...]

Owners search for new location for the Elbo Room

Sad news yesterday for fans of Mission District venue the Elbo Room: the owners have been told that their lease won't be renewed and that the building will be demolished and replaced by condos. With their current lease expiring on November 1, the Elbo Room team posted a note on Facebook explaining that they're actively looking to relocate, and we certainly hope they can find a new location soon. SF history buffs know that the bar the Elbo Room currently occupies has been in operation for 80 years in various forms; as Amelia's, it was once the last lesbian bar [...]

Flesh World – “Just To Tear Me Down”

Flesh World is Jess Scott and Diane Anastasio of Brilliant Colors and Scott Moore of Limp Wrist, and the trio's gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, The Wild Animals in My Life in June on Iron Lung Records. "Just To Tear Me Down" is the new record's first single. The song finds Scott's vocals atop an atmospheric haze, gloomy enough for fans of melodic post-punk, but with propulsive drumming that lends a insistent urgency. Really good stuff. https://soundcloud.com/iron-lung-records/02-just-to-tear-me-down-v4
