Late last year, I met Nyanni on the platform of West Oakland BART, while working on a story about Oakland's BART dancing scene. The 22-year-old Oakland R&B singer has released a couple songs since then, but her newest track "Over Night" is her best yet. It's forlorn and catchy, an ambient, auto-tuned hip-hop track exploring the explosive mixture of young love and Hennessy.

Being that Nyanni started out as a dancer, it makes sense that listeners are relating to her song like so:

The description under her song on Soundcloud reads, "If you've ever drank Hennessy and missed someone then this is your song." Replace Hennessy with your favorite vice, and I'm sure all of us can relate.
