Pickin’ on Hate is a Bay Area effort created and organized by the Town Howlers to raise money and awareness in support of tolerance. Friday’s second annual fundraiser at Ashkenaz raised $4,200 for the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC).  As the Howlers’ John McKelvy noted, “Not bad for a night of pickin' and grinnin'!”

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass host, Chuck Poling, was on hand to emcee the show. Members of ILRC spoke about the important work that they do and the successes that they've had, especially considering today's political climate. Musicians volunteering their talents included The Loud Ladies Foot Patrol, Kathy Kalick and the Picks, the Nell & Jim Band, and of course the Town Howlers.
