Soviet-born, piano-wielding singer-songwriter Regina Spektor's solo headlining performance on April 7 is the first of the 2017 season at The Greek in Berkeley.
Long eschewing descriptors like "quirky" in favor of "adventurous," Spektor fell into her own world when she had a baby. Focusing her energies inward rather than outward, she now seems to have fully recharged with a grandiose new record and near-collaboration with Chance The Rapper.
Although she has been recording music since 2001, it wasn't until the major label re-release of Soviet Kitsch and her fourth disc Begin To Hope that she garnered mainstream appeal in 2005.
Since, she has had two albums debut at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and her seventh LP, Remember Us To Life, was released last summer and peaked in the Top 25.
