Pigeons Playing Ping Pong 2

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, the alliterative funk phenomenon from Baltimore, will be making their Bay Area debut Friday, February 17 at The Independent.

The four-piece flock consists of drummer Alex Petropulos, bassist Ben Carrey, lead guitarist Jeremy Schon, and the eye-popping energies of Greg Ormont on lead vox and guitar, and they each carry an apocalyptic abandon in their on stage animation.

The band has garnered a massive following on the East Coast for their penchant for playing upwards of 200 shows a year, and they have been hosting their own music festival, Domefest, since 2009.

Last year they self-released their second full-length album titled Pleasure and on January 10 of this year they announced a Kickstarter campaign to help record their third disc, Pizzaz. By the third day, they had amassed 2/3 of their goal of $18,000.

Opening the evening will be Los Angeles-based trio Organ Freeman. They enter the Pigeons' four-month schedule on Feburary 15 in Chico and will help the East Coasters around California and through Arizona.
