Al Lover

The one-and-only Al Lover is back at it again. Fresh off releasing his latest (and greatest) LP Cave Ritual on January 29 via UK label Stolen Body Records, the San Francisco-based producer has yet more audio glory ready for the yearning masses. "Brown Acid Redux" is a live re-edit mix, and we are happy to premiere it exclusively on The Bay Bridged today, mere hours before Lover takes the stage at Brick & Mortar for Noise Pop 2015.

As you would expect, "Brown Acid Redux" is a trip down the wormhole of psychedelic beat-making, but it comes at you with some varied influences, as Lover's catalog is wont to do. "It's all sorts of world, psych, beats, trip hop and stuff all kinda of re-imagined with break beats and dub delay," he recently wrote over email, in true Al Lover fashion. "Super tripped out and groovy."

Add in the fact that it clocks in at 56 minutes, and you'll be spacing out to Lover's unique and entrancing beats with no end in sight. It's yet another impressive addition to a discography that seeming grows exponentially, with Lover releasing new material on the regular, including the aforementioned Cave Ritual (which you can listen to, in full, here).

One new remix you WON'T be hearing from Lover any time soon is his recent take on Canadian hip-hop superstar Drake's track "6 God". Within three days of posting the track (which he dubbed "(66)6 God") to SoundCloud, it was taken down after the music hosting site's "automatic content protection system" noted that Lover didn't have Mr. Aubrey Drake Graham's permission to use samples from the original. Hopefully someday it will see the light of day, because those lucky enough to hear it during the 72 hour window where it was streaming online will attest to its quality.

Stream and download "Brown Acid Redux" below, exclusively on The Bay Bridged, and get your copy of Cave Ritual over on Stolen Body Records’ website – you're in luck because the second pressing is ready. Full details on tonight's Noise Pop gig at Brick & Mortar follow the audio.
