No, not that kind of vapor, you ganja queens and kings. This past September Blonde Redhead released Baragán, a comparatively quiet and wispy album when you think back to the lush strangeness of Penny Sparkle or Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons. Champions of many swirly genres such as dream pop, art rock, and shoegaze, they were discovered by Sonic Youth’s drummer in 1993. It’s true – the band is entering their third decade together. The trio is formed by French twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace, and Kazu Makino who is Japanese.
They’ll be playing The Regency Ballroom this Tuesday night with support from Dot Hacker (band name, not a cheeky start-up gone rogue). Whether you’ve adored them since they were part of the underground music scene in New York or you just aimlessly clicked onto this blog post, this performance is not to be missed under any circumstances.
