This month's episode of our Artist Spotlight podcast series, which captures live-in-the-studio performances and interviews with emerging Bay Area performers, features Farallons. We previously described this San Francisco quintet as "dream surf," in an effort to capture the way the band's warm folk-rock is saturated in atmosphere. Unlike a lot of bands with a strong "feel," though, there's thoughtful songwriting here too, which ably compliments the strong vocal harmonies and masterful control of dynamics. After turning heads with the Outer Sun Sets EP, the band's now plotting the recording of their debut LP, and are currently embarking on a Kickstarter campaign that you can (and should) support.
In this episode, Farallons perform two stripped-down songs live in our studio and we talk with guitarist/vocalist Andrew Brennan about the band's beginnings, the impact that Northern California's natural beauty has on his music, and his hopes for the group's upcoming LP.
Farallons are performing with Mike Sempert and Kacey Johansing at the Rickshaw Stop on May 14.Tags: Farallons
