If (like me) you missed out on tickets to The Coachwhips‘ sold out show (Saturday, October 27th at the Verdi Club), listen up! A second Coachwhips show has been added!!! It will take place on Sunday, October 28th at Oakland’s edgy Lobot Gallery.
Before there were Thee Oh Sees, there were The Coachwhips. John Dwyer’s frantic guitar and vocals were every bit as tasty. The band was deeper in the garage as this was the early part of the Millennium, a primordial version of Thee Oh Sees, more raw and beautifully sloppy. The band formed in 2001 and was gone by 2005. Don’t blow it. Get tickets here.
Portland’s Guantanamo Baywatch have quickly become my favorite live band, and I am flat out in love with the bass player, the sultry Ms. Chevelle. If you like your surf punk extra slimy, be sure to arrive early to Lobot. Chicago’s White Mystery kick things off with their two-piece, red-headed screamery. From LA: Pangea and Fidlar round out the exceptional last night of Total Trash Halloween 2012.
Tickets are still available (but going fast) for Friday’s “Pre-Party” at New Parish. Rumor has it this will be all covers, all the time with the soon-to-implode Uzi Rash doing The Fall. Nobunny, Shannon and the Clams and Audacity are sure to come up with some tasty covers of their own. Submit to Total Trash and hit all three shows!
