Psychedelic hard rock outfit and San Francisco natives Hydrophonic recently dropped their new single "Friends Like These" via BandCamp. Funded entirely by a Kickstarter campaign, the track was recorded at Hyde Street Studios in SF and produced by the band and Michael Starita. Clocking in at more than six minutes, "Friends Like These" is an epic tale of lies and betrayal featuring aggressive, searing guitars and a thunderous rhythm section, and takes loads of inspiration from fellow Bay Area natives Metallica. Check it out:

The "Friends Like These" single is Hydrophonic's follow up to their 2011 debut EP Beached. The quartet—comprised of Corey Largent (lead guitar/vocals), Sam Lowther (rhythm guitar/backing vocals), Zack Newman (bass) and Shawn Stein (drums)—most recently opened for Flight to Mars, the UFO tribute band led by Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, at the Independent, and plans on booking more shows in anticipation of their second album due out this Fall.

Keep up with Hydrophonic on Facebook and Twitter.
