Anna Ash of Oakland has been making music in the Bay Area for the last two and a half years, but her latest release, These Holy Days, shows she has the potential for a much larger audience.

Throughout These Holy Days, Ash's soprano voice is the star of the show, and it should be. Her effortless delivery evokes elements of soul, folk, pop, and just a hint of twang. Ash brings a bit of a throwback feel to the album, but never sounds antiquated or stale. Her band is tight, and the arrangements are able to remain interesting without stealing the spotlight from Ash's rich voice. In short, These Holy Days makes it clear that Anna Ash is a special talent with the foundation for widespread appeal.

Below, you can hear a track from Holy Days, "Shoot me With Your Best Shot." The rest of her album is available to stream or download on her bandcamp page.

Ash performs live with Joey Dosik and Bay Bridged favorite Ash Reiter at the Starry Plough in Berkeley on June 16. She also plays Amnesia with her soul cover band Baby and the Macks on June 21.
