Reinventing themselves once again, Los Angeles-based three-piece Liars newest LP WIXIW (pronounced "wish you") is now available from Mute Records. The album is a dark, electronic affair — clearly influenced by Radiohead's Kid A (the obvious reference point for a noise rock band turning to synthesizers) and reinforces the band's constant desire to push themselves out of their comfort zone.

There's healthy debate but Liars fans are responding positively to the new sound. Setting aside questions about what qualifies as "new" when a rock band sets out to make an "electronic" record (considering that the most popular indie and radio acts these days almost all incorporate major electronic elements), WIXIW documents a band firmly in control of their artistic vision.

Be sure to catch Liars when they play the Fillmore on July 5th. Seriously, you're gonna WIXIW were there (and if you can't make it, keep an eye out for our upcoming interview with the band and show review).

Here's the official video for the first single, "No. 1 Against the Rush" (named for the 49ers' record setting defense in 2011 — no joke).
