The folks over at Yours Truly may have outdone themselves on this one. They didn't just record a live rendition of a new song from a Bay Area band; they recorded a stellar session with the Morning Benders that also happens to feature a veritable hodgepodge of other local musicians. And because that can't be enough: the whole thing is actually a bit of a tribute to one Phil Spector.
Recorded at Different Fur Studios, this video for "Excuses" allows for keen eyes to spot other Bay Area heavy-hitters: John Vanderslice, Golden Gram (Rogue Wave, Port O'Brien), Christopher Owens (Girls), and oh wait, is that the Mumlers? And Blue Rabbit? Who else is in there, bringing this new song from Big Echo to life?

So enjoyed this song. I’m 60 and recall the Wall of Sound the first time through. I was so moved that I wrote to Mr Spector mentioning this song and the wonderful performance by all. What a nice tribute to him. He will appreciate it I am sure. Keep up the great work.
